138th Canton Fair Phase 2: Green Momentum, Refreshing Innovation

From October 23 to 27, the second phase of the 138th Canton Fair was successfully held. Upholding the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Fair advanced high-standard opening up, and broke new ground for win-win cooperation. Focusing on "Quality Home Life," greater efforts have been made to develop a more innovative, intelligent and eco-friendly Canton Fair. By integrating green development philosophy throughout the entire exhibition, the Fair demonstrated the innovative achievements of industrial and supply chains with low-carbon products, and created a one-stop sourcing platform for global buyers to explore "ideal homes."

Green Home, Bright Future: Leading New Trends in Green Trade.

Exhibitors were characterized by sustainability and driven by innovation. Among the more than 10,000 exhibitors, 41.2% adopted low-carbon production models, showing a better foundation and momentum for green development. There were over 2,900 quality companies recognized as national high-tech, specialized and sophisticated SMEs, and manufacturing single champions, an increase of more than 10% compared with the same period of the previous session (the same below), setting a new high. Among the 2.075 million exhibits, new products, green and low-carbon products, and products with independent intellectual property rights accounted for 24.6%, 26.3%, and 22.8% respectively. From degradable materials to environmentally friendly customized solutions, and from smart homes to integrated green design, a dazzling array of innovative achievements outlined a new picture of Chinese creativity welcomed by the world. Media outlets praised the Canton Fair as a "pioneering platform for green trade, leading the new trend of green and low-carbon development."

Buyers Gathering, Shared Opportunities: Thriving Attendance Underscores Openness.

The Fair witnessed a sustained surge in overseas buyer attendance. Since the opening of this session, nearly 240,000 buyers from 223 countries and regions have attended, a 6.8% increase, hitting a new high, with significant growth noted from the EU, Middle East, USA, and South America. 140 overseas business organizations attended in groups, marking a 9.3% rise from the previous session. 455 buyer delegations attended this session, and the scale reached a new high. This included 328 leading companies like Target of the United States, Carrefour of France, and Nitori of Japan, representing an 8.5% increase. Exhibitors deemed that the Canton Fair is now a pivotal hub for global value chain integration. Overseas buyers hailed it as a "must-attend event," the premier choice for tapping into China's opportunities and achieving mutual benefit.

Targeted Engagement, Tangible Outcomes: Facilitating Market Expansion.

Focusing on targeted matching, the Fair built efficient bridges for business. 165 Canton Fair Collection new product launch events have been hosted to provide a premier debut platform for smart and green products. Six "Trade Bridge" matchmaking events, and six "Discover Canton Fair with Bee and Honey" live stream activities effectively helped companies explore new markets. Three thematic forums and the release of two insight reports, including the "2025 China Home Living Industry Trend Report," offered forward-looking guidance for the industry.

Smart Services, Enhanced Experience: Fine Model for Thoughtful Service.

Digital intelligence streamlined sourcing procedures and enhanced service experience. The Canton Fair App saw 388,000 new downloads for this session, and the four smart navigation tools were used 371,000 times. Efficient badge application services, convenient in-complex "ASK ME" multilingual assistance, diverse payment options, the newly introduced counters for departure tax refund, and a wide array of dining choices collectively earned the Fair high praise for its thoughtful, considerate, and user-friendly services.

Phase 3 of the 138th Canton Fair will run from October 31 to November 4. Under the theme "Better Life," it will occupy a 515,000-square-meter exhibition area with approximately 25,000 booths. It will showcase products across five major categories – Toys & Children Baby and Maternity, Fashion, Home Textiles, Stationery, and Health & Recreation – comprising 21 exhibition sections.
